In this tutorial I will teach you how to make this effect on any text.

First, create any text you want with any font, preferrably a thick one. I wrote my name, obviously the first thing that came on my head...

After that duplicate the text layer and change its color. I used the maroon color. Now you should rasterize this text by right clicking on the layer and clicking 'Rasterize Type'.
Now for the stripes. Click on the custom shape tool or type U on the key board. Choose this shape and be sure that the Paths button is on. Your top tool bar should look like this:

Now draw this shape on top of the whole text while pressing shift to keep the ratio. When the shape covers the whole text, click control+enter (command+enter on a Mac) to make the selection and hit delete.

Deselect by clicking control+D (command+D on a Mac) and give this layer a stroke by clicking on the button with an F at the bottom of the layers panel:

And here is my stroke settings:

Do the same with the bottom text layer but with 'Inside' as the position:

Thats it.

Now you can add more effects and styles. You could also experiment with different colors and fonts.
